What are you reading

At some point i said was going to read a book called "Badass Making Users Awesome" by  Kathy Sierra.

Well that day has I started it today.  My first thoughts of the book is that there is 286 pages of good stuff.  Well i was kids of wrong, I opened the book and start reading the prologue, like every good book has,  The first page has like 10 word on it and picture.  This is an adult picture book, I am hooked  This is my kind of book.

Yes it has a bunch of pictures and a few words per page. but these are good words.

I have started treading this book, again, sometimes when you start a  book and it is not the right time in you life. Some times the book does not fit or  the words do not seem to make sense.  So i started this book a couple of months a go and i was in that spot.   I was not open to the words in the book, but that I am restating the words seem to be jumping off the page.

The Prologue in this book it title The Challenge.

One of the questions posed in this book is "Does the best product win?"

I would say not always, sometimes it is the product that be come more popular that wins even though it might be a less quality product.   I am hoping that this book will explained this a little more and teach me how to avoid being lost in the shuffle.

I work for internal department in the company i work for, I am realizing that some times we need to do internal marking to get what we want the company to change or accept something new.

In this book  it says something like "Just because we don't have a marketing budget doesn't mean we're not doing marketing.......Out-spending the competition on marketing is not an option, but what the alternative?"

Well what it the alternative? social media, gorilla marking, viral marking i am not sure what to do next. We journey on through this book as let us see if we can answer some of these questions.

The book says " A strategy based on out-friend or out -trend the competition is exhausting and fragile"

Well I guess  that answer my previous questions, but keeping up with all the social media outlets is tiring.  What is left,, how do you build a product with out a marketing budget and social media?

According to the book "Every moment of every day, someday mentions something they love-could-not-do-without"

Yeah so an example of this is a couple of weeks ago in my weekly bible study, the leader found on a really cool poster  for the book of 1 Peter on the thebibleproject.com website.  He found the site because of a preacher he was listing to said he found some really good videos on a different app.

The point of the above store is that it was word of moth that we found thebibleproject.com site.

Just like in the Badass book i am reading word of mouth is the most powerful tool in marketing and making users awesome.

It does not matter if you are making new website, new app or new kid toy. most people ask there trusted friends what they recommend. and about my guess is that 90 percent of the time we use what is suggested.

So get out there a spread the word of you.
